WE HAVE TO GO TO SEARCH THE LOST SHEEP

WE HAVE TO GO TO SEARCH THE LOST SHEEP

(Luke 15:1-10 ) " 1 near unto him all the publicans and sinners for to hear him , 2 And the Pharisees and scribes murmured , saying, This man receiveth sinners , and eateth with them . 3 Then Jesus told them this parable , saying, 4 What man of you, having a hundred sheep and loses one of them , doth not leave the ninety-nine in the wilderness, and go after that which is lost until he finds it? 5 And when he finds it, he lays it on his shoulders 6 And when he comes home , she calls her friends and neighbors, saying : Rejoice with me , for I have found my sheep which was lost. 7 I say that likewise joy shall be in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety -nine righteous persons who need no repentance. 8 Either what woman having ten silver coins , if she loses one coin , does not light a lamp, sweep the house and search carefully until she finds it? 9 And when she finds it , she calls her friends and neighbors, saying, Rejoice with me , for I have found my lost coin . 10 And I tell you, there is joy before the angels of God over one sinner who repents . "

This afternoon our Lord Jesus Christ will tell us two parables , one about a lost sheep and lost one on a coin . And I want to pay attention to how important it was for the pastor and the wife of the parables found their lost assets and then the joy that you feel when you find them.

Today we will meditate on the following topic : Jesus receives sinners . Jesus receives sinners . This is an invitation to trust him and is an exhortation to preach about it.

IS AN INVITATION TO TRUST HIM

I have three questions for you :
1 - Do you know what is a Pharisee ? Religious leaders , men very "holy " in the eyes of the people ... but they were righteous , relying on their own works rather than God's mercy . They would not admit that they were sinners .

2 - What is a tax ? A tax collector , the worst of sinners. He had betrayed his countrymen to work for the Roman Empire and were hated because they were mostly corrupt politicians ... thieves.

3 - What is a parable? An earthly story with a heavenly meaning . An illustration to show God and his kingdom.

Well, the Pharisees , to stay pure and blameless in the eyes of the people never came to the publicans , prostitutes and other "sinners" . Then , the fact that Jesus spoke with them, ate with them and even staying with them was unbearable for the Pharisees . In the text for this afternoon , Jesus is on the way to Jerusalem for the last time to fulfill its mission of sacrifice on the cross for the sins of the world . And along the way you approach each and sinners ... Well , after three long years of the same, the Pharisees and have had enough .

And begin to murmur against Jesus : "How can a man who supposedly is so holy , together with the garbage of our society? "

And then Jesus tells two parables of the text :
In the first, a shepherd with a hundred sheep loses one. And this sheep was so important that you let the other sheep in the wilderness to find it. And to find it, was so happy that he invited all his friends and neighbors to celebrate with him .

The other parable about a poor woman who was 10 drachmas. A Greek drachma was one silver coin worth about a day 's work . And to lose one of their drachmas , the woman searched the house ... and many of us when we lose our wallet or keys. And to find the coin , I was so happy she invited all her friends and neighbors to celebrate with her.

And Jesus tells us the point of these two illustrations . " I tell you, there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety -nine righteous persons who need no repentance ... So I tell you, there is joy before the angels of God over one sinner who repents. "

JESUS RECEIVES SINNERS . ( 1 Timothy 1:15) " This message is a trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance : Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners , of whom I am chief ." In fact, Jesus receives sinners joyfully . There's a party in the sky whenever one sinner repents and comes to believe in Jesus. It came to earth to save the righteous , but sinners . And well, because that means even accept us.

Be careful not to think like the Pharisees of the text for this afternoon. Because we need Jesus . Lost were all born in sin , but Christ sought and made Jehovah God 's beloved children . And there was a party in the sky .

In our life we have times when we faltered in our faith until some have lost it. But through his gospel , Christ has sought and has returned to his flock . And there was a party in the sky . (James 5:19-20 ) " 19 Brethren, if anyone among you wanders from the truth , and someone turns him back , 20 remember this: Whoever turns a sinner from the error of his way shall save a soul from death and cover a multitude of sins. "

Although attend church , but we are Christians, every time we lie, we get angry , we care , we speak ill of others , etc. . But Christ through His Word calls us to repent and trust him. And joyfully receives us sinners. And there's a party in the sky .

Paul in the second reading this afternoon wrote: ( 1 Timothy 1:15) " faithful saying and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners , of whom I am chief. " So , the worst of sinners. But Paul was the best all-time missionary . He suffered imprisonment, ridicule , beatings and death rather than deny his Savior.

Remember that Paul persecuted the church before and imprisoned Christians. He was present at the death of Stephen giving his approval. And even after his conversion , he continued to be a sinner . He had his hidden sins of thought and heart that no one could see. He himself said that evil did not want to do, that he did, and how good he wanted to do , that he did not. Paul actually was considered the worst , the chief of sinners .

( Romans 7:15-20 ) " 15 For what I do not understand , because I do what I want, but what I hate I do. 16 And if I do not want to do, I agree that the law is good. 17 So it is no longer I who do it, but sin that dwells in me. 18 For I know that in me , that is, in my flesh , dwelleth no good thing : for to will is present with me, but I find not. 19 I do not do the good I want , but the evil which I would not, that I do. 20 And if I do not want, and I do not do it, but sin that dwelleth in me. "

Well , each of us knows their hidden sins that no one else sees. Each of us must confess that I am the chief of all sinners . But I can say without fear, just like Paul , because Jesus came to save sinners . Always receives us sinners. No matter how serious the sin , because Christ suffered the punishment of that sin on the cross . In the eyes of God , we are not sinners, but fair . We are his beloved sheep . ( John 12:47 ) " If any man hear my words , and believe not, I judge him not : for I came not to judge the world, but to save the world."

Jesus receives sinners . What a relief ! What a comfort ! This is an invitation to trust him. And it is an exhortation to preach about it.

A WORD TO PREACH ABOUT IT

Well , the pastor 's wife and the two parables this morning looking for their goods with the same fervor . The shepherd left the other sheep in the wilderness to seek the lost. Woman cleans the house , searching diligently currency. And you know what? The pastor and the woman represent Jesus ' parables .

It is not only that Jesus receives sinners , but actively and fervently seek them . And , how are looking to sinners ? Well , looked to Paul on the road to Damascus , appearing to him in a great light . But generally , it seeks out sinners well , right? So how do the search ?

Jesus seeks out sinners through His Word. Through the good news of the gospel , announces to the world that Jesus receives sinners , who by His death on the cross all can find peace and forgiveness in their arms. But no one will hear this good news unless someone tells you. Paul wrote to the Romans (Romans 10:12-17 ) " 12 For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him ;

13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved . 14 How then shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed? How will they believe in Him of whom they have not heard ? And how shall they hear without a preacher? 15 And how shall they preach unless they

sent? As it is written :How beautiful are the feet of those who proclaim peace, who bring good news ! 16 But not all obeyed the gospel , for Isaiah says , Lord, who hath believed our report? 17 So then faith cometh by hearing , and hearing by the word of God. "

That is why Christ commands us to all of us : ( Matthew 28:19 ) " Go therefore and make disciples of all nations , baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit ." It is not just the job of the pastor, but of every Christian to share their faith with others. Seeing that God has sought and has received us , now he wants to go and seek with the same fervor others lost.

And there are many opportunities. You can invite your friends to go with you to the congregation.
Can talk about the comfort and strength we have in Christ with their neighbors who are struggling with the tragedy. Lights may be the love of Christ , welcoming all in love.

I ask : if a person smells dirty and ugly comes to our congregation , how would you react? If you enter through those doors a prostitute or a homosexual and sits next to you, you talk to that person?

Jesus receives sinners . We even received us . And now you want to receive others. Want fervently seek the lost to be part of the family of God. And we have many opportunities here in San Mateo . They live many people and very few of them attend a congregation. They are lost . Then , it is necessary that we seek with the Word of God to have more parties in heaven.

Jesus receives sinners . For us these words give much comfort and peace. We can always find forgiveness in the arms of our Savior. And seeing that love for us and the fervor with which God seeks sinners also share God's love with the lost ... be with our neighbors , friends or family . Because Jesus always welcomes sinners . Amen .
