FAITH INCREASES WITH THE DOCTRINE OF CHRIST

FAITH INCREASES WITH THE DOCTRINE OF CHRIST(Luke 17:1-10) "1 Jesus said to his disciples, It is impossible but that offenses will come: but woe to him by whom they come! 2 Best for him that will tie him to a millstone neck and he cast into the sea, that he should offend one of these little ones. 3 Take heed to yourselves. If your brother sins, rebuke him, and if he repents, forgive him. 4 And seven times a day if he sins against you seven times a day turn again to thee, saying, I repent, 'forgive him. 5 The apostles said to the Lord, Increase our faith. 6 And the Lord said, If ye had faith as a mustard seed, you could say to this mulberry tree, and planted in the sea, 'and it would obey you. 7 Who of you, having a servant plowing or feeding cattle, returning it from the field, then says: Go and sit down to meat? 8 Would he not rather say Prepare dinner, stick, and serve me while I eat and drink, and after that, you eat and drink? 9 Doth he thank that servant because he did what he was commanded? I think not. 10 So likewise ye, when ye have done all that you were commanded, say, We are unprofitable servants, because what we had to do ". (Sal139: 16; Jer1: 5)
How wonderful to have an illusion of any plan or project where we deposited family, hard work, talent, dreams, and all our HOPE."But to ensure results, you have to have more faith in order to find Hope."Unfortunately, the faith we have is not the true faith in Jehovah God, which was given us in our Lord Jesus Christ. But we all need more faith, and we see in the text this morning that the disciples realized they had the same need and so I said to Christ: "Increase our faith." And as the disciples, we too ask God, "Increase our faith."Yes, increase our faith to not depend on our own faith or good works, but Jesus Christ our Savior, Christ is crowned truly in our hearts and what is in heaven.
1. FOR OUR OWN not depend on FE.In the first verses of the text for this morning we see that Jesus Christ commanded his disciples a few things: first that will not cause anyone to sin by his words or actions, and if anyone sins, rebuke it.
Also if this person repents, forgive him. Upon hearing this command of Christ, the disciples realized it would be very difficult to do what Christ commanded them, and then ask him, "Increase our faith."At first glance it seems like a good request, right? But Christ could see the hearts of his disciples and knew that his motives were not pure, because they were relying on him, but in his own faith. And so I said, "If you have faith as a mustard seed, you could say to this mulberry tree (a type of tree), uprooted, and be planted in the sea, 'and it would obey you."
Christ's point is clear: faith so small as a mustard seed, you can do wonderful things, because power comes from faith but from God.
Then, with these words Christ rebukes his disciples, because they had faith in their own faith, and rely on their own faith is dependent on itself, because we were all born, grew up having a faith that does not save and also at any insignificant bugbear falls first thing in our life is precisely our faith is worthless.
But when we understand that through the teaching of sound doctrine of Christ, we changed our faith by a holy faith, pure and powerful that belongs to our Lord Jesus Christ, for He is the immovable rock, where cimentamos our whole life and so our unwavering faith and salvation.
Sound Doctrine of Christ gives us a good example by the apostle Peter: Where the night before Jesus was crucified, He told Peter that he would deny him, but Peter, who had great confidence in his own faith he said to his Lord, "Though I should die with thee, I will not deny". And what did Peter in the same night? He denied Christ three times swearing that he knew him.
(Mark 14:27-31) "27 Then Jesus said unto them, All ye shall be offended because of me this night: for it is written: I will strike the shepherd, and the sheep shall be scattered. 28 But after I have risen, I will go before you into Galilee. 29 Then Peter said: Although all shall be offended, I do not. 30 And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, today, on this night, before the cock crows twice, you will deny me three times. 31 But he spake the more vehemently, If I should die with thee, I will not deny. And they all said the same. "
(Mat 26:69-75) "69 Now Peter sat without in the palace: and a damsel came him, saying, Thou also wast with Jesus of Galilee. 70 But he denied before them all, saying, I know not what you say. 71 Leaving him at the gate, another girl saw him and said to those who were there, This fellow was also with Jesus of Nazareth. 72 But again he denied with an oath, I know not the man. 73 A little later, approaching those who stood by, and said to Peter, Surely thou also art one of them, for your accent gives you away. 74 Then he began to curse and to swear, I know not the man. And immediately the cock crew. 75 And Peter remembered the word of Jesus who had said: Before the cock crows, you will deny me three times. He went out and wept bitterly. "
For Paul warns all who rely on their own faith to say, (1 Corinthians 10:12) "Therefore let him who thinks he stands take heed lest he fall". Well, I remember a lady in San Luis Mestepec which had cancer. And when he learned he had cancer, I was desperate and did not know what to do, or that he could not understand why God would let her suffer. So many brethren of many congregations were to visit, and almost all said: "YOU HAVE TO HAVE MORE FAITH, IF TRUST IN GOD WILL HELP" But this kind of ministry, is not true, because it is founded in error, to rely in our faith.Instead we say, 'JEHOVAH GOD WILL HELP YOU AND THEN YOU CAN TRUST IN HIM ". Can you see the difference? The protection of God and his power does not depend on the size of our faith, but of God. (Psalm 37:5) "Commit to the Lord thy way trusts him and he will."Faith is confidence in himself but in the Lord God. If one depends on the size of the faith is set in its own navel while walking. What will happen? You will hit something or fall. This person trusted the man who supposedly had gifts of healing, for this reason we entered and we left many ministers to no avail as she finally died. (Jer 17:5) "Thus says the Lord: Cursed is the man who trusts in man, and maketh flesh his arm, and whose heart departs from the Lord."
We are weak, we are sinners, and then if we rely on the fact that we are good Christians and attend church, what will happen? We're going to drop it? We're going to fall into temptation, we will fall into doubt, we're going to fall ... And then, instead of fixing our forced, what we look at Christ who is the way to heaven, because He is mighty to help.
What we look at Christ because he is reliable, that is, Christ always keeps his promises. And most important we look at Christ because he gave his life on that cross for our sins. Christ is our trust. And so, yes, we aumentarnos faith to trust in Him even more and to better serve you.
And by the means of grace that are in the Sound Doctrine of Christ in the Word of JEHOVAH GOD and His Sacraments, the Holy Spirit will increase faith and help us fix more and more eyes on Christ by studying His word and get this knowledge will give good results.
And why it is so important that we study the Bible, not to show how strong our faith, but to rely more and more on Jesus Christ, the source of our salvation, and serve you better. And we see in the text this morning that the disciples really wanted to serve Christ ...
Two. FOR OUR WORKS not depend on.But Christ had to remind something important about the service: if they had done all that Christ commanded, that is, if they had caused others to sin, if they had forgiven those who have sinned against them, if they had done, does not deserve any reward, because it was his duty.Christ makes a comparison: it is as a servant, who works all day and still have to cook dinner for his master, but whatever does not deserve special thanks or reward, because what he did his duty, nothing more.
The disciples had to confess that they were not special if they obeyed the will of God, had to confess that they were unprofitable servants ... And the truth is that these disciples never met these duties but now are powerful lessons for us to put away all vanity , arrogance and pride of our lives, decrease so that Christ may increase.
Not always forgave those who sinned against them and sometimes by their actions and words caused yet another sin. Well, they were sinners, whom they could not serve well, and therefore deserved the wrath and punishment of God. But, thank God, his salvation did not depend on what they did, for salvation is through Jesus Christ, the Lamb of God who sacrificed himself for his sins.Christ came into this world and did what the disciples could not. It did not cause anyone to sin, but led a perfect life and showed them the way to heaven: for, the way who is Jesus himself. Moreover, in his mercy, died on the cross to forgive all sins of all time.So I have some questions: How good is our service? Just as the disciples right? How many times we break God's commands? How many times we get mad at our husbands or wives and children? And even when we do what we do, we should be proud, because we are only doing our duty, and no more.
My brother is very easy to believe us better than others because they attend church and because Sana study the doctrine of Christ in the Bible. But we do not deserve the glory, but God deserves, because we are unprofitable servants, which deserve eternal death for our many sins. But our salvation does not depend on what we do, but what Jesus did. Through the merits of Jesus Christ, God forgives us all our sins.
There is forgiveness for the many times we get angry with our family and friends. There is forgiveness for the many times not to rebuke those who sin, because we are afraid that they will get angry. There is forgiveness for the many times we do not forgive others, to those who mistreat us, and making fun of us. And where there is forgiveness, there is salvation. For Christ is the object of our trust, which is trust. And this faith and encourages us to serve God, but not to win something or to boast in what we do, but because we want to thank God.Therefore, caring for your neighbor, do not cause sin, but urge him with the Word of God. And if your neighbor sins, and especially if he sins against you, repréndalo, because there is love let someone go on in sin. On the contrary, when you say that you have sinned against God and deserve eternal death, you show love. And if that person repents, forgive him. Tell that Christ died for their sins. Tell him that you forgive him. Can you do it?, I know it's hard, but with God's help we can. As Paul said, "I can do everything through Christ who strengthens me." So what we ask God to increase faith and we keep using the means by which God strengthens us in faith, that is, through the Sound Doctrine of Christ. What we continue studying His Word to not depend on our faith or our own works, but completely of Christ. Yes, Lord, increase our faith. AMEN.
